爱播视频 alumna Meghan Bolton works in community outreach at the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter and is partway through a bachelor鈥檚 program at UNH-Manchester in Non Profit Management. However, she said it took a lot of work and persistence to get here.

鈥淚 enrolled and dropped out three times before it stuck. Graduating from 爱播视频 was not a linear process,鈥 said Meghan, a Milford High graduate who completed her associate degree in human services in 2016,

鈥淚鈥檇 love my story to encourage those who aren鈥檛 typical students. College was not my strong suit, but it got me to where I am now, so it was definitely worth the effort.鈥

Department chair and internship advisor, Professor Jayne Barnes, said, 鈥淢eghan was afforded the opportunity to network and build contacts in her field in both of her internships – the first being with the Nashua Public Health Department. She is a great example of how experiential learning opportunities can highlight the invaluable chances students have to forge important professional connections before they even graduate. What is also true for Meghan is that she is giving back to her community. As students have often discovered through internships, the college experience is more than just what happens in the classroom.鈥 Meghan started volunteering at the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter as an intern during her time at NCC, then immediately went into a yearlong service at the soup kitchen through AmeriCorps.

鈥淎fter one year with AmeriCorps, the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter created a community outreach position for me, and I鈥檝e now been employed six months,鈥 said Meghan. Meghan encouraged others to consider internships, such helping out at the soup kitchen, 鈥淭here鈥檚 always something to do.鈥
